It's arrived too late for summer, but Audi's now added a third variant to the A3 range
joining the hatchback and sport back, this is the new A3 Cabriolet. So, let's take a
closer look. The A3 Cabriolet looks exactly as you'd expect, and that's no bad thing.
But, it's longer and lighter than before.
Audi's cut weight by about 50 kilograms or around the weight of a teenager. The roof's
pretty conventional too. There's no folding hard top here, just a conventional soft top
that opens and closes in about 18 seconds at speeds of up to 30 miles an hour. There
will be 1.4 and 1.8 litre TFSI petrol engines to start with plus a two litre diesel, and
then next year we can expect to see a 300 break horsepower S3 version with four wheel
drive.
As with any Audi, there'll be plenty of stuff on the options list, too, including head level
heating, a premium *** and Olufsen audio system, in car wifi, traffic sign recognition
and adaptive cruise control that maintains a set distance to the car in front on the
motorway. It might have four seats, but don't go thinking the A3 Cabriolet is a family car,
though.
There's next to no legroom in the back, and the space needed soft tops are fold away,
which means the boot is very small. Despite that, the car's sleek styling and, of course,
the upmarket appeal of this Audi badge means and is likely to be a strong seller.
