The origin of myths can usually be traced back to real stories.
However, as time goes by, so many alterations are made that myths often stray from the facts.
This is a true story that took place 4300 years ago in Greece.
Sitia, Crete.
A great hero will be born here in Sitia.
He will save us, and rule as king over all Greece.
The king of the whole of Greece!
It is a prince!
A prince is born!
Hermes; Winds of Love
This child will be the light of Sitia.
Let's name him Hermes.
Hermes... the child of light. That is a wonderful name.
He will grow to love art and music.
No, we must raise him to be a strong man.
King Minos is obviously building up his military forces
to seize the whole of Greece.
He may attack Sitia at any time.
There is no one, but, Hermes
to protect Sitia against Minos.
Knossos Palace, Crete.
Take these hostages away.
Quick! Out of the way!
Your majesty, I heard a strange rumor... a prophecy...
that a hero will be born in Sitia, who will be the king of Greece.
Of course, it is only a rumor...
No one, but you, can reign over Greece.
A brave leader from Sitia? That is a joke!
Sitia?
That tiny state?
I could topple it in one breath.
In 2300 B.C., the Aegean was torn by strife.
The royal families of its many states waged endless war.
Among them, Crete had the highest level of civilization.
It was there that King Minos sought to expand his domain through sheer military might.
As King Minos exerted control over neighboring states,
he extracted more in tributes and demanded more prisoners.
These states feared him and has no choice but to succumb tearfully to his demands.
The anxiety and anger of the people gradually turned into hope and prayers
for the birth of a savior to deliver them from this tyranny.
26 year later
Stop! That is enough!
What a sorry bunch! Can't you do any better?
Or rather, Prince hermes is just too strong for you.
None of Minos' soldiers will be a match for Prince Hermes.
Look, it's Prince Hermes.
It's about time for the Prince to find a bride.
A perfect match...
A princess worthy for his is...
in Lindos, Rhodes.
Princess Aphrodite!
She is as beautiful as a goddess and has the voice of an angel.
But, she is locked inside the castle of Lindos, so nobody can reach her.
But, Prince Hermes will find a way.
He is Kind, wise...
and stronger than anybody.
Look!
Another ship with a black flag.
It's carrying more hostages to King Minos.
What will happen to them?
They will be eaten by Minotaur...
Lindos, Rhodes.
Wasn't she only 7 years old when she came to this castle?
Yes, it has been 11 years.
Poor thing, to be so young and beautiful, but kept as a prisoner...
Well, that's what happens in war.
Her island, Delos, was defeated.
Her father was killed in battle, and her mother blinded.
