My favorite food in the Hamptons, assuming it’s not at my house I would tell you that
more often or not we’re heading over to Beacon as soon as it opens in Sag Harbor for
their rare tuna, because it is amazing, and you get sunset over Sag Harbor over with that.
Almond in Bridgehampton, they are making a brussel sprout salad that is absolutely off
the charts, top three salads you’ve ever had in your life. Brussel sprouts two ways;
it is off the charts. They were doing a swordfish prep this late fall, late summer, early fall
when tomatoes were really perfect. Tomato and avocado with the swordfish; I have to
tell you I went and had it three nights in a row, because it was such a perfect dish.
Then I have to add Café Max, because Max is such a great guy. He’s at the Sag Harbor
gym every morning doing boxing class, and he’s in that kitchen every night. You will
see him, he will come over and hug you every night, and he has a sign out when local bay
scallops come in, when the soft shell crabs are in he’s got the sign out, and he taught
me something, buy catch. Do you know what buy catch is? Grey sole is a buy catch, it’s
on the menu; he does a great prep with mangoes. My husband loves that dish. They’re really
after another fish, but grey sole gets in the net by catch.
