Hello, and welcome to another episode of TrollsNews Tells How It Is, My name is Vol Jang. Today
episode will be about war between funnyjunk.com and reddit.com and about copyrights. The war
here is about reddit stealing content from FunnyJunk and FunnyJunk stealing content from
reddit. Steve, please.
So first, people, this wanna-be war between funnyjunk.com and reddit.com is retarded,
you are going to make comics about each other and what? This is a typical problem of any
internet war. You are just stroking dicks of your communities and doing nothing and
then both claim victories. And after that several users like to present themself as
heroes. Fortunatelly there is big number of people in both your communities who understand
that this is retarded and refuse to participate in these stupid battles.
Thank you Steve. Steve explained what is retarded and now I explain what you can actually do.
As you most likely know every original work is copyrighted after it's finished, for example
this video was copyrighted in the moment we exported it. If you see your content somewhere
where you didn't upload it, it is infrigment of copyrights, only you have the power to
upload your content unless you stated otherwise.
Basically if you uploaded original comics to for example to funnyjunk and you'll find
it on different site you can easily write an email to this site and inform them that
material posted there is owned by you and you didn't give a permission to post it on
their site. Material will be taken down, because you could sue this site and there is no chance
in hell that they could win it.
Of course you can talk about fair use, but you need to understand fair use, simply reposting
the same thing is not covered by fair use, no matter if you get money from it or not.
The problem here is that this repost is taking away attention from the original post and
that is copyright infringement. But if they're only posting link to the original content,
there is no problem, because the site is generating traffic to place where you originally posted
your creation.
This could be nicely illustrated on youtube videos, if someone post this video on their
blog using embedded player everything is great, because this person would generate traffic
on this video, but if someone would take this video and reuploaded it on different site
without permission, they would receive cease and desist email.
Your work is copyrighted and unless you give a permission to other people to upload it,
they have no rights to do so. But they have rights to make parodies or criticsm of your
work and they have full right to link other people to your work. But also, don't be a
butthurt, this is the internet, people will steal your things. If you want more informations
on copyrights google it or we can make a more videos concerning fair use if you want. That
is all for today, thank you for watching and stay safe under the youtube bridge.
