As a traveller, I think you're always a little bit of a traitor.
You leave home each time,
looking for pastures a little bit greener,
waters, a little bit bluer
an existence, perhaps, a little bit truer.
You live the dream for a while,
before you get back to reality and forget the dream
I didn't.
Six years ago, I came to the Andaman islands.
I found myself here
in these forests
beneath these waters
amongst these people.
I lost my way back home.
Come, let's explore these islands
My home
away from home
We woke up this morning, just before sunrise
and hit the beach.
It was empty and vast and dark.
And I love how
you know, even in the drama of
all those colours happening,
'beautiful' is not the first word that comes to mind
even though it certainly is.
The first experience that you feel is that of peace.
And that is so rare in this crowded and uh,
busy and super-fast world.
We checked into our resort
It's just five minutes across from the beach
and it's run by a really sweet Bengali family
who have just gone out of their way to
make us feel at home and comfortable.
(Hindi) My name is Bidud Banik.
I live in Little Andamans' Netaji Nagar (8km)
and I own a small resort. It's called "Hawva Beach Resort".
The tourism of Little Andamans is not very developed.
So tourists seldom visit here.
We get work ony for two-three months.
After that we don't get any work.
So two-three months go by smoothly.
We have to sleep through the rest of the months.
There's no work, nothing.
The best part is that
There's really less crowd
And all the people who are here are very friendly.
So, it's very nice that everybody helps each other out
If anyone is in any trouble then everybody volunteers to help.
That's what I like the best.
If anyone has come to travel around Little Andaman,
then the first thing is Kaala Patthar, and Butler's Bay Beach.
Then there's our Big Waterfall, and Hut Bay beach is also nice
It is small and has a waterfall. That's nice too.
Little Andaman is a nice place and you'll find beaches on all four sides
They are all big-big beaches.
King Coconut? -Ya.
Okay so guys,
What this is...
King Coconut!
Mmmm! My god, this is like-
This is so sweet.
It's too sweet! I've never had cocunut water like this.
Delicious!
Surfing started in little Andamans since foreigners started coming.
They would bring their surfboards.
Before that there were no surfboards here.
So, it has started since then.
Now, all the boards that I have, I have ordered from a friend.
There's a friend of mine,
so together, we started our surfboard business.
Yes, I've tried it twice or thrice
It's a lot of hard work and a lot of trouble.
It's very difficult.
I mean, it's not so easy.
We seem to believe that surfing is really easy,
But it's not easy at all. It's very troublesome, a lot of hard work.
Definitely, you should come. Little Andaman is a very beautiful place.
You will know only after you come and see for yourself.
Until you don't see Little Andaman- Don't think that it's "little"
Little Andaman is very big.
So you come, only then will you know what a beautiful place this is.
And you must come, I feel.
When you find these - these powerful places
I think they call you.
And, umm
and my advice is
always
listen to that call.
It doesn't come with a reason. It just-
It just says, "Stop".
But the reason will always follow.
And I think, the reason
is always purpose.
We don't find our own purpose. It finds us.
And that's how I first came to these islands.
We've come to Kaala Patthar beach
And its secret lagoon.
You can see why it's called "Kaala Patthar".
You know, every island, almost, in the Andamans
has one spot called "Kaala Patthar" and that's
because these are volcanic islands
and these are volcanic rocks
But I have to say,
None of the ones I've been to
are as dramatic as this one.
I mean, you have this backdrop of these gorgeous rocks
and then, the lagoon.
It's been six years in the Andamans
but never before had I been to Little Andamans
And, what I saw was that it was
A big island with an even bigger heart
The people here are absolutely wonderful
and the aunty at the resort fed us like we were her kids
coming back from boarding school after a long term
And apart from that, the island itself
I think it's so much more dramatic than
some of the other islands I've been to
I mean, these vast beaches all around the island
white sand, really blue seas
and the forests are so dense
Umm, honestly, walking through these forests was quite umm
You know, Jurassic Park-like.
These massive, massive forests and
when we went to the waterfall, I mean, we hiked through this
and then ended up in this jade lagoon.
And Kaala Patthar was absolutely stunning
I mean, you know, again - this gorgeous lagoon
where you felt so perfectly safe to just swim and snorkel
and all of that
Umm, it's really been a magical, magical trip
I think I'm going to come back every year.
