In 1991 Codemasters released the game Seymour goes to Hollywood. To promote the game and
to get people used to Seymours gameplay mechanics they also released a smaller game, which was
given away for free in the computing mag that I used to subscribe to.
Today, we're going to start to play that game.
Let's play "Seymour: Take one" which is a lot more amusing if you pronounce it "Seymour?
Take one!"
As you can see Codemasters and Big Red Software worked on the game and they've already started
referring to their games as movies.
And there he is, folks! Hi again Seymour.
Two things you'll notice...or rather two things that I noticed and am now going to tell you.
First, our squelchy chum looks a little bit different to how we remember him. That's because
he's not wearing his amazing hat just yet. Secondly, he's following the same route in
the attract mode as he did in the sqeuel. I wonder why.
Whatever the reason, if we leave it on the attract mode we get our introductory text.
Am I going to read it out in my cheesy movie trailer voice? Yes. Yessir I am.
"Seymour" a household name now, perhaps, but where did this megastar come from?
Here's Seymour; friendly odd job man at the Findlemeyer studios.
Today, due to a mistyped "meemow" the whole crew have gone to a nonexistent location shoot,
leaving the last scene of the big movie unfinished.
This is it!
If seymour can stand in for the hero, the director and the editor then he'll make it
to megastardom, because God knows it worked for Plan Nine from outer space!
And if you just leave it the introductory text will repeat itself - Well, the introductory
sequence, rather, will repeat itself.
So let's just stop here and resume tomorrow when we get down to the game itself and learn
where Seymour came from.
So until next time, goodbye.
