>> male speaker 1: The club has been together on and off since
the 70's.
They really started I think in '74, I think in the early '90's
they took a few year break, and then they came back and we've
been going ever since.
We practice on ice twice a week, as well as off ice, here at
Eastern twice a week as well.
We are usually on the ice Monday, Wednesday, and we
usually condition here Tuesday, Thursday, every week.
Then usually Fridays and Saturday are traveling days and
game days.
The team we have right now is very competitive, very fun, and
everybody likes you know, being together, being competitive, and
just feeding off one another and just playing the game that
everybody has been playing since they were young.
There's a thing that's been going on ever since the club
started, and it's called "Bomer".
It's basically a shoot-out at the end of practice; it is very
competitive...
Everybody will line up at center ice, and you get as many times
as you can to score, one on one with the goalie, and the last
person that scores is called the "Bomer" for the week.
He must wear this old Jopha helmet to class, the whole class
period and he must take a picture with his professor at
the end, for proof that he did wear it to class.
>> male speaker 2: You know this season we have had a lot of
success, beating teams that we haven't beat, you know, and ever
since I've been here since Mike's been here.
You know, we beat University of Illinois this year; which is a
huge win.
We took three or four points from them, which in years past,
Eastern Illinois wasn't going to be able to do that.
We gave Northern Illinois their first home loss in Regulation in
I think over a full season.
You know, we are really proud of ourselves for making steps in
the right direction, and we are hoping that the program can just
keep advancing.
We are all great friends on and off the ice.
There's no groups of friends that you know hang out with
certain people or other people.
It's everyone is welcome to everyone hanging out with
everyone else outside of the ice.
You know, it's a really tight knit group and it makes playing
and going to battle every weekend a lot easier when you
know your good friend's out there.
