Hi I'm Karen for Expert Village. When you have your whole project all glued and finished,
then you want to coat the whole thing with a pretty thick coat of the decoupage glue.
This will seal the paper and adhere it to the board, to the table, very hard. You want
to put it very thick. It's going to soak into the paper and it's going to seal. You can
see that the paper is becoming translucent and when it dries it will lose that translucency.
But you want to soak it, you can see that it is soaking the paper all the way through
to the bottom and that will give it a really hard finish. And then after this, when this
completely dries, you want to coat it again with an acrylic varnish and you can get that
at a craft store or a hardware store. And you want to put six coats of acrylic varnish
and that will give it a shinny and hard finish and that will wear very nicely and you will
be able to play a lot of chess on this board.
