JOHN SEXTON: Halo 3 is a registered trademark of Bungie Software a company with which I
have no affiliation. Like the Arbiter, who's an elite, some of the other elites are loyal
to him and have also joined the fight against the Covenant with humanity. So there are a
few elites that are still siding with the brutes but by and large it's the humans and
the elites versus the brutes and the grunts and the prophets in Halo 3. You can see it's
a very beautiful game. This opening level takes place in Africa. Halo uses a regenerating
health system which is the blue line in there at the top of the screen that shows your shield
strength. So if your shields are knocked down you become vulnerable and it's easy for your
character to die but if you were able to retreat from battle for a little while your shields
are down, they will regenerate and you can come back into the battle and not have to
worry about health points or anything like that. This system is actually introduced in
Halo 1 back when the original X-box was launched. And since then it's been adapted by almost
every first-person shooter in this generation of consoles. It's just the much more fun way
to play because you get to fight on an encounter-by-encounter basis, and you're win or fail at a given fire
fight rather than count health points and scour the level for health packs which aren't
very much fun to pick up. So the regenerating health system is popular these days and with
good reason I think.
