Sure to peak strong collector interest is a rare ‘snowstorm’ multicolored, tiered
glass vase. The lower body of the baluster form is speckled with aubergine, turquoise
and green glass. A Daoguang reign mark is evident upon the base and the piece measures
just slightly over 8 inches in height. It is quite similar to a choice vase held in
the collection of the Palace Museum, Beijing. Although not identical, it is noteworthy that
many striking, comparable characteristics parallel the two pieces. The vase will be
offered in the June Fine Asian Works of Art Auction as lot 8081 with an estimate of $3,000-5,000.
