[Steve Myers] Do you want to live longer? Go to church. Really? Can going to church
really extend your life? You may not realize it but there are actually dozens of scientific
studies that show that there is a connection between going to church and living longer.
So Google it, check me out and you'll find there are many studies that actually bear
that out. In fact the Bible says that godliness is profitable for all things. That's 1 Timothy
4:8. So we begin to see there is a connection to going to church and living longer. Becoming
a godly person would certainly mean I want to follow Jesus Christ, I want to do what
He did. And He kept the Sabbath. He attended what we would call church on the Sabbath.
And today we need to do the same thing. And in fact it has more of a connection than not
just for a longer life, but what Christ taught is that it has everything to do with eternal
life. And that's what's most important. Jesus Christ proved it long before any scientific
study verified it. Do you want to live longer? Do you want to live forever? Become a godly
person. Put on the mind of Christ, and do what Christ did. Walk as He walked. Live as
He lived. And He kept the Sabbath.
And so do that very thing. Notice what Christ said here in Luke chapter 18 and beginning
in verse 29. Luke 18:29, Christ said this, He said, "I assure you," this is the Living
Translation, "I assure you that everyone who's given up house, or wife, or brothers, or parents,
or children for the sake of the Kingdom of God will be repaid many times over in this
life and will have eternal life in the world to come." Now certainly going to church doesn't
guarantee you'll have a life free of problems and that sort of thing, but it does have eternal
consequences. And so put on the mind of Christ. Follow Jesus Christ and get started on real
life. Don't use any excuses. Don't be too tired. Get yourself out of bed. Go to God's
church this Sabbath. You will live longer.
