Today we are talking about healthy snacks for kids and today what we would like to do
is break open a jar of pickles. These pickles happen to be break and butter pickles. Now
what we are trying to do is to just give you different ideas on healthy snacks for your
kids and something that is quick and easy and we have done a lot with crackers so far.
What I want to show you so far is bread. What you do is take a slice of bread, preferrably
whole wheat bread. White breads are not as healthy for children. There are many of things
that you can read about on line or you an just take my word for it, choose the whole
wheat bread, organic whole wheat if possible. That is even a better one. Now this one might
sound a little bit gross but you might find that a lot of kids really like these sandwiches.
These are quick and healthy. Just take your regular peanut butter whether your kids like
chnky or whether they like smooth. Spread the peanut butter on the bread and depending
on some kids like a lot of peanut butter and some kids do not like any much at all. Then
once you have done that you get the pickles. Bread and butter chips and some people call
them sweet chips but these are actually called bread and butter chips and what we do around
here is we just take a few, maybe six or seven chips and that will cover about half a piece
of bread and just slightly, you do not have to cut it all the way through but that actually
helps you to bend it a little bit more, fold it over and now you have got yourself a half
sandwich of a peanut butter and pickle sandwich. Again lots of people might think that this
does not sound very good but you will be very surprized at how many kid slike this sandwich.
Go ahead and give it a try and it is a healthy quick alternative to frozen food or who knows
what else your kids may want so go ahead and give it a try.
