Hi, this is Linda of EldercareAnswers.
Recently, I got a voice mail message - this doesn't happen very often - from a hospital discharge planner,
and those discharge planners do great work, and they do it quickly and they don't have a lot of time to spend with each family,
so for a hospital discharge planner to take the time to make a phone call to me, the director of an agency
with 20 Geriatric Care Managers, to say what a wonderful advocate our Care Manager was with their patient,
and that the care giver that we sent also was obviously trained and professional and she just wanted me to know
that she observed that and it really made the hospital stay for the client, who was a little bit confused because of some dementia,
but she had to have a surgery, so she really needed a lot of caring hands and hearts to get her through this hospitalization
but the discharge planner took her time and made that phone call to me, which I think is - it really touched my heart.
I know my staff does good work, but to have somebody who's busy in a hospital setting stop, and say
what a difference it made to have an advocate and a caregiver that understood the client and also understood
the procedures and the technology and the process of being hospitalized.
