The Temple College Writing Center offers help
for part of the writing process.
We offer prewriting help, that is, we can help
you come up with a great topic or research idea.
We can help with the planning aspect of your
project, and help you create an organized plan
to follow. We can help with both the drafting and
revising part of the writing process, that is, we
can help guide clients during the drafting
process, and also answer specific questions
about the client's particular project.
There are several different services offered by the
Temple College Writing Center. We offer face to
face consultations that are typically offered on
walk in or appointment basis, to both students
and faculty. Each consultation last for about half
an hour and in that time discuss usually about
4 to 5 pages of writing, as well as offer
suggestions on how clients can improve their
writing skills
and include proper documentation of sources
using APA or MLA, or another format, and also
how to avoid plagiarism. The Writing Center
advises clients seeking guidance with job
application materials, scholarship materials,
college application materials, and personal
academic endeavors such as résumés, cover
letters, scholarship essays, and even articles.
We also offer both writing workshops through
out semester, and a writing lab. The Writing
Center can different workshops through out the
Fall and Spring semesters, and there are small
scheduled workshops that can be targeted at
specific writing assignment for different courses
on campus. We have a writing lab that contains
12 computers and areas that are perfect for
students to study.
The Writing Center is also WiFi ready for
student who wish to bring their laptops
As far as what to bring to a Writing Center
consultation, you should bring specific goals
that you want to accomplish, you should bring
ideas and questions about your writing project,
you should also bring the syllabus or
assignment requirements, something to write
with, and write on, and a flash drive to save your
work; and also any text books or reference
materials that will help you with the project.
The Writing Center is located in the Instructional
Services Center, or the ISC building, in room
108. Our hours of operation are Monday thru
Thursday 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and our contact
