Hi I’m Kristine and I’m here today with some online project inspiration
taken straight from the pages of our newest Idea Book.
If you are a party girl, and I am a party girl!
Who doesn’t want to have some fabulous friends over
for a rockin’ good time that is even circus themed; shall we?
Whether you are a grown-up or a little kid
or really a little kid trapped in a grown-up’s body, like me,
you’re going to love some of these adorable ideas.
Now, look at these darling pieces, these are all taken from the Artiste Cartridge,
which Close to My Heart provides as the Artiste Cricut Collection,
and you can see that these are darling favors.
I’ve cut them in different colors, so you can pick a colored theme for your party.
These are great little treat boxes,
then to fill with fun little, um, treats
for your guests to go home with.
And I’ve got my cute little elephants here
who are standing on my weights, my little dumbbells.
These look terrific when perched atop a cupcake,
but today what I’m going to focus on
are the invitations themselves.
These adorable popcorn containers,
filled of course with caramel popcorn, are not just a favor.
These can be an incredibly fun, different,
memorable invitation for your guests.
You know these people are going to show up for your party if this is the invitation.
It all starts with a popcorn box.
I’m going to be working today; I’m in Artiste.
I’m on page 67.
We are working on the movie night key, hence the popcorn.
Now, you can see that on the bottom of this page,
it shows to cut my popcorn box at four inches
but I’m going to cut the box at 6 inches.
It’ll work great cut at six inches.
You’ll want to start with white as your base.
So I’ve cut four of them in white,
but then once I’ve got it cut and assembled
just as shown in the assembly guide,
I am also going to cut, also in six inches,
several of them
in up to four colors, five colors of my choice.
I’ve got some fun bright colors.
You can see that I’ve also got some honey on my samples here;
doesn’t matter, you can pick the colors that you like,
and they’re going to be following these great scallops at the top.
Now, what I’m going to do is I’m going to need to cut strips,
straight line strips almost Popsicle stick style
out of these scallops
and that’s what’s going to give me my circus stripes,
transforming a traditional movie popcorn box
into a fabulous circus party invitation.
Now to do that, I’ve taken my stitch guide,
I’ve already done this so you can see this;
you can see it a little bit closer.
I’ve done my, used my Stitch Guide and I’ve lined it up,
right at the valley of a scallop
and I’ve just drawn it all the way down.
You can notice you can see this camera angle from here;
I have crossed out one of these.
You will not be able to use
every single one of the scallops that you see
and that’s because you’re going to be cutting in perfectly straight lines,
and yet, because this folds into a box,
the strips would get narrower if I were to cut them evenly.
So, you’re going to need to discard every other stripe.
Now, I’m just going to bring in my paper trimmer,
and once I’ve made the pencil marks,
it’s actually really, really, really simple to do,
because I can just line up
the pencil marks right on my track,
and then I can just trim those right off.
Now here’s one of the ones
I’ve identified as being a waste space
so I’ll just set that aside because you can see
it just gets way too narrow for my purposes,
but this one is nice and straight.
And so I’m going to be able to
to apply that right down,
and I would recommend just cutting all your paper strips first,
and then you’ve got a nice big
pile of fun cut paper strips that you can then begin to alternate.
Also, if I were making this at home,
I would not assemble my box completely first,
I did that just so that you can see it.
But, let’s see, let’s just go ahead and do my pink one;
A strip of Tombow will fit perfectly on this so we won’t have any excess
and it will line up just great and then it’s going to fit,
tah-dah, just perfectly perfectly, perfectly!
Just like that.
Now, I’m going to do that several times,
you’re going to see that I can fit three to four stripes
depending on where I sit on the box;
this side has three, because I’m going alternating
white, colorful, white, colorful, white, colorful.
So two sides will have three, and two sides will have four.
So that means all total,
I just need under a dozen strips for my full box.
And that will make it really fun,
really festive, in just a few minutes.
Now I want to show you the invitations themselves
that are actually just stuck on the top of a toothpick
so really, really simple. You don’t have to over think this
and it’s done as a movie ticket,
which again, is a part of that movie night set,
you can see it’s a linked image so you get the outside sleeve plus the inside ticket
and you just size it to a size that you feel comfortable with,
and transform that ticket into the party invitation.
So it’s really, really easy to do you slip it right in,
pop it inside my caramel popcorn and it’s ready for delivery.
I have used the Big Top stamp set here,
which is Artiste coordinated, we make it so easy,
not only do all the Artiste images work together,
but the stamp set works together great too
so that everything comes together faster, simpler, easier,
and so adorable that you are about to take center stage with you and all your party guests.
It’s a fabulously easy project that is going to make a really monster sized,
should I say elephant sized, impression for your next party.
