Spring Two thousand Eleven
These are the reports from the executive President David Harlow's report
Since our last Flame
Some exciting things have been happening at our Branch forty three
we have secured our mortgage and we're moving ahead with a renovations
the rental space has been leased out
and the club room is being transformed before our very eyes and we're just about to begin on
the auditorium and the lounge
thanks to Bill Summers Chair, Ron Davey
and they're building committee and all that they have been doing to bring our dream into a a
reality
Dawn Boston has sent the Trillium application for a grant in partnership with the Metis
counsel
to cover some of the cost
the renovations and making the building more
accessible
we should hear back from them in next few months

I made a presentation to development services committee at city hall regarding recommendations
for street names for veterans
the recommendation
was accepted
they have asked us to give them a list of names meeting the new requirements
we will be submitting that list
to them in May
at two thousand eleven

mike mccarthy and
the personnel committee have been hard at work these past few months in dealing with
the number of important issues
together we recently hired two new bar staff, please make them feel very welcome
we've had a couple of much-needed fundraisers
these past few months and Mirka
Martasek offered a massage day for us at the branch and raised over a hundred dollars
and loosen alot of tight muscles at the same time
thanks Mirka
we also had a very successful superbowl party this year thank you Bob Reed and his helpers
we have alot of exciting things to look for forward to this year
the renovations being completed and new groups are renting our hall
we have a few things that are coming up that are quite important including
three to become one of the best branches in Canada by asking all to join in with us in two thousand
eleven and make this year

the Nevada dispensing machine has been out of order for the last few weeks
we had it repair people come in three weeks ago and repair the machine
and (but it)lasts about two hours and then went on the brink again
they charged three hours travelling time at $75 dollars per hour plus a service
call we've been waiting for them to come back to repair it properly
but not sure on the date
if you want to buy the Nevada tickets speak to the bar staff
on Sunday Feb 20th we had the Irish dancers, their performance was a donation
on their part (for using) our facilities for their rehearsals
it was a free show for our members, approximately fifty members attended it
unfortunately just before they took the stage
the Fire Service showed up with news that there was a fire at one of their residence
and they were on the scene, these young performers took it in stride and performed
at the show must go on
they did an excellent job and are to be congratulated for their dedication
we wish them all the best of luck
there are several events that we ask for the membership to support including a Meat Roll
and special draws for Easter
a Clubroom draw for a
gift basket that is donated by Ann Webster to finance
the new speakers for the karaoke and the Pickers
our friday night Karaoke and Saturday Night
renovations are also underway
with a new paint job and tiling of the north wall is any indication we will have a beautiful facilities

recuperating from my fall

i'm not used to sitting around doing nothing
you sure brighten my days

we had a presentation of awards for posters, poems and essays this month I'd like to thank
Sandra Strutt for all her hard work during the campaign
Doris Howe did a marvelous job of taking pictures
for us, take a look at them in the glass display, tthank you both very much,both very much and also everyone who helped me
me in the evening
Helen Baumgartner has kindly volunteered to be the Chairman of the Public Speaking Contest
This is usually an exciting day many of the speech
Helen will inform you of the winners at a later time. Thanks Helen.

Dear members tthe following is a recap the finances for the month of january and february
The branch sustained a lloss of $4,387.18 for the month of January.
it's imperative to improve our income stream
strict budget seem tto be put into place and it follows in order to improve the balance sheet
we need our members to system
writing facilities and help us bring in more mmembers an order to offset the poor financial
performance
in an effort to increase cash flow we have
the bank of montreal
for eevery approved mastercard and Bank of Montreal
and this is the branch of (Athol and Simcoe) fifty dollars to
the branch
and donate an additional fifty dollars to the Cancer Centre
this mastercard comes with no cost to the members member's families and friends
we would strongly encourage a membership to aassist us with huge campaign by supporting
your branch in assisting community cancer ccenter in their fight but this dreaded disease. Return the completed application to either our branch of the BOM branch
