Welcome to the Question of the Week - or QOW as we like to call it. This is an interactive
opportunity for you to earn Part Two Maintenance of Certification credits, and keep up to date
with the latest pediatric topics. Today, we’ll cover the activity’s “Nuts and Bolts,”
the process, and how you’ll earn your points. So, here are the “Nuts and Bolts” of QOW:
One new question is released each week, but that doesn’t mean you have to answer within
a week. You can do it at your convenience, once they’re published. Each question will
take about 20 minutes. These questions cover the latest concepts, breakthroughs and best
practices, noted in recent medical journals and publications. How will you know when a
new question is released? Don’t worry, after you enroll in the activity, we’ll send you
a quick e-mail, once a week, when the question is ready. Each QOW is set up the same. There’s
a case, question, abstract, and additional commentary for you to read. The case really
sets the stage for you, giving you a patient or an issue as if you were the practicing
physician. You’ll then have an opportunity to try your hand at the question. This first
try won’t be held against you, so take your best guess! The abstract outlines the concepts
or breakthroughs in recent journals or publications. The additional commentary brings everything
full circle, taking the abstracts findings, offering background, and providing application
for your case and the real world. With all the information at hand, you’ll then answer
the question to earn your credit. This is where you’ll want to get it right. The only
way you get credit, is if you answer correctly! Once you’ve correctly answered the question,
you can access the Medical Pearl – it’s a little added bonus of interesting information.
You can also share your thoughts on the week’s question with others – join the conversation
in the Community Forum! Be sure to read the Commenting Policies first though. Points:
As part of QOW you’ll correctly answer 25 questions to earn 10 MOC credits. A total
of 50 questions are offered each year, 1 for each week – except for Christmas and New
Year’s Day. That means in the span of 1 year, you could potentially earn a total of
20 Part two points! The Question of the Week is simple and easy
to use, but if you have any questions, you can always revisit the “About this Activity”
section. This is where you’ll find FAQs, policies, and more information. Ready to sign
up and join the QOW community? To get started, enroll in Question of the Week within your
ABP Portfolio today!
