Hi! So, I'm going to talk about my best friend who is incidentally my worst enemy,
and the reason I'm going to talk about sugar is because all the information
that I've seen or I've read out there is either useless, it's counter-intuitive, it's impractical or
it just doesn't really
give me the solutions that I'm looking for. So I'm going to share the solution I found
that has changed my life to curb my sugar cravings. Some people say that
sugar cravings are a matter of self control and it is kind of first-world
problem, but it's a really serious one. Humans are wired to want salt and sugar.
and that's not something we're going to change.
I think that manufacturers really notice that and that's why there are all these
really cheap
refined, processed sugars out there. And that's why whenever you walk into a
grocery store or into a restaurant really sugary or really salty.
And most of us middle-class people, we eat ichiban and pizza pops and
candy and just all these things that are really bad for us and we
kind of take it for granted. We're also taught that in order to lose weight
and to get healthy that we
need to have low-fat and low-sugar diets. The first thing I would like to
say is that is completely wrong and the me and my friends have followed that our entire lives and it
resulted in all of these issues that are really serious. Whenever I went on these
diets, obviously my blood-sugar would plummet and I would have these
natural cravings for sugar and at the end of the day I would either stuff my
face or I would be completely miserable
and completely antsy, and anxious and I would just have all of these
emotional problems, because it actually makes you crazy to not satiate your cravings in a
healthy way. It's kind of like when you give a kid a bunch of sugar. They're going to...
freak out, go crazy, run around, and then obviously it's going to plummet after that. And the
kid is going to be irritable, grumpy, tired, lazy and that happens with us too.
So it's something that we really really have to avoid. I used to go to work and
either not eat all day
(bad things would happen) or I would celery all day like a lot of people told me to.
They would say that if you were snacking all day then you would be fine and your
cravings wouldn't hit you as hard as they would, but I'm not gonna lie
if you sit around eating celery all day, you're still gonna want that candy bar,
it doesn't matter how many stalks of celery you eat. Because we need
sugar and we need fat. We need vegetables and all that stuff too, that's a given.
But we really need these things that everyone is kind of indoctrinating us to avoid...
..sugars and fats.
And I'm not saying you that should go and eat all the sugar and fat you can.
I'm saying you should eat whole,
unrefined, unprocessed sugars and fats.
If you ever see something that says hydrogenated trans-fat, then just run away,
because it's not good for you and you don't want to put that in your body.
I fully support
eating fats,
but they have to be whole, they have to be unrefined
and they have to be unprocessed.
Those kind of fats will keep your blood sugar at a stable level and they're not bad for you.
Your brain is actually made of sixty-percent fats and every single cell in your body is made of fats as well.
There's a Victoria's Secret model named Miranda Kerr who actually puts coconut oil
in her food and
everything like that each day. And I think that she realizes,
as well as a lot of who are kind of hoping on this train that your body uses the whole
saturated fats to just keep everything going and just keep everything healthy.
Try to get whole, natural fats in your diet and it will make everything better, I promise.
What I do is I put coconut oil in a chocolate mint rooibus tea.
This tea is really good for people who are just starting to drink rooibus and
and kind of want a caffeine tea.
It's organic, so all the flavourings are natural. It doesn't have any refined
sugar in it or anything like that. And it basically just keeps my cravings down all day, because it's
really sweet too.
It's also a lip gloss, which is kinda cool. Like whenever you drink it,
it kind of moisturizes your lips a little bit. Try to have coconut oil, try to have whole butter.
Have a glass of whole milk in the morning. I know a lot of people say that you should drink skim milk
but skim milk isn't natural. Drink whole milk.
When your'e buying your Greek yogurt, get it the way it naturally is
don't get it zero percent. It's a lot better for you to have a tablespoon of
regular fat, than to have a
little chocolate bar full of refined sugar. If you get these fats from good sources
your body won't go to the bad sources. 'Cause these cravings--you have to satiate them.
You can't just ignore them. So if you have these natural, whole
fats and you're still craving that chocolate bar, try to sleep on it.
And the next day, you'll wake up feeling better. And if you think, like, yeah..
I only live once and
I want to have this anyway, then that's your prerogative, but it's just about
energy for me. And all of you clean eaters can agree with me out there: once you start
eating clean your energy levels are actually absurdly high. Like so high that you
just never want to feel anything other than this goodness.
Every time I eat french fries or chocolate bars or anything like that
my body feels really tired and really groggy.
Kind of like it always felt when I was younger and in high-school and every time
I had to wake up early, it just wasn't happening. I decided to address this issue, because
it's not just a matter of vanity and looking good and looking slim, it's a
matter of health.
These refined sugars aren't good for you. They aren't good for your mental health
or your physical health, so please try to cure them naturally and if you need
sugars in your house
then have dates. Dates have a low glycemic index and you can use them to sweeten
anything like your baking or anything like that. Have 100% pure maple syrup.
I personally wouldn't go for agave nectar, because it's pretty processed, but
um...
just try to get syrups that are pure.
Try to eat a lot of fruit. There's nothing wrong with eating a ton of fruit in my opinion
just because they're natural sugars and your body knows what to do with them.
Even if a chocolate bar has less calories than an apple, you should go with the apple. Your body knows what to
do with it and once you're eating whole
healthy foods don't have to count calories anymore, trust me on this. Diets are
designed to fail and they're unnatural. Pick a sustainable way to do it and trust me
you'll be happy. I know I am! I am certainly much happier
now that I've found natural ways to satiate my cravings, so I hope that this helped and I'll talk to you soon! Bye!
