Swimming is a potentially very fun exercise for you to enjoy with your dog; the key here
being enjoy. You want to take your dog out and acclimate them to water slowly. You want
to encourage them to get their feet wet and realize that it's not a dangerous thing this
is a lot of fun. If your dog likes retrieving things, sticks or other things you might encourage
them to go in shallow water and bring that stick back to you for a reward. Dog's who
have more concern about being in the water be helpful if you're in the water with them.
One of the things about swimming you want to be extremely careful about is that you
protect yourself. If you're out and you can't touch and you have no flotation device and
your dog is out swimming with you, it is not at all uncommon for them to swim to you and
then try to glum onto you like a drowning person. So be very careful, keep your feet
on the ground. Make sure that your dog is comfortable and don't push them, enjoy yourself.
