I'm going to show you how you can find articles from PubMed starting from the library homepage.
So we're going to start under Best Resources for... Kinesiology
This is where you want to start all of your research.
Under the Journal Articles box, there is a link for PubMed. Click on that.
The first thing you will need to do is to sign-on. This is important because this allows you to access the electronic articles that are available from the collection.
So this is PubMed.
We're going to start by looking for articles on strength training in the elderly and its impact on quality of life.
So you can see here we've got 350 results.
And to look in more detail at an article, you're just going to click on the title.
So this is the information that you would need in order to learn more about the article.
You've got the title, you've got the journal that it came from, all of the publication information and there's an abstract.
So once you've read the abstract, which is essentially a summary of the article, then you can decide if you would like to view the article.
In order to view the article, you are going to come over to the right-hand side to the Get It! Guelph button.
You just click the Get it! Guelph button.
And what it does, is it searches all of the library collection to see if you have access to it.
You're going to look for full text.
As you can see, this article is available.
It says get full text from JournalsOvid.
What you want to do is to click the Go button.
So click that.
And here we are directly into the article.
Over on the right hand side of the page is the link for the PDF.
You're just going to click on it.
And here's the article.
If you have any questions about this, feel free to contact your liaison librarian or go to the website for more information.
End of video.
