Hi, on behalf of Expert Village.com, I'm Shelly at AA Calister in Salt Lake City, Utah. Today
we are discussing how to choose a winter horse blanket. Now when you are considering your
winter horse blanket I want you to think about your horse?s body type. Is your horse a quarter
horse or a Morgan, a little thicker horse? Or is he a warm-blood, thorough bread, something
that's a little taller and more slender. When you go into your local tack department your
going want to tell them what kind of horse you have since some blanket manufacturers
will actually make blankets that fit a certain horse type better. So the boxier, stouter
Morgan?s and Quarter horse will need a different fit then your more narrow, straight thoroughbred's
and warm bloods so consider that when your purchasing your winter horse blanket is what
body type your hors has along with the size of your horse. So consider size and body type
and tell that to your local tack representative and they will help you figure out the best
blanket to fit your horse in the best way. If you don't get the best fit, something a
little to small, it will rub on their shoulders and take their hair off. If you get something
to big or bulky it will slide off the sides and won't stay put. So that's why it's important
to get the body style that fits your horse the best.
