Having some trouble with the knife. I’ll have to sharpen it.
I have a sharpening stone, bought it off eBay for very little, can’t
remember how much, 4 euro or so, as little as a pack of cigarettes.
It’s from RUI. RUI tactical knives.
Of course, manufactured in a worldwide recognized country.
But it seems to be functional. I would prefer having a
bigger stone to be able to sharpen the knife like this.
If you look at the blade, it has two edges. The one over here,
which I’m not very interested in sharpening,
and this one, which is the actual cutting edge.
I have to position the cutting edge on the stone
as flat as possible and try to cut small imaginary slices off the stone.
And then towards the finger – be careful with the finger!
In the same manner, place the cutting edge so that it feels flat on the stone.
And we cut thin slices of the stone. Imaginary, of course.
Because the stone is too small and it doesn’t permit me to make
the ample movement that I’d like to, I’ll do the following.
Circular movements, once again with the stone placed perfectly
on the cutting edge, I make circular movements. Like this.
In this way the knife is sharpened in nature, with such a stone that weighs 5-10 grams.
Yep. I already feel that it is sharper.
It’s surely not the best sharpening stone.
I can for sure find better stones in our surroundings, even in the streams.
I know Valea Cutilori, there I could find good, natural stone for sharpening knives.
Let’s see how it cuts now.
Much better. Without applying effort, I can cut green hazel nut wood.
Much better, of course.
Alright, I’m going to prepare….. It makes me laugh to think
about when I’ll make the English translation for this film.
I’m going to prepare our traditional roasted salo
(unrendered pork fat) and it’s amusing to think
I’ll have to translate that and won’t know how.
Good, I’m preparing a stick to make the roasted salo and
I’ll probably accompany it with some baked mushrooms.
I don’t want to open your appetite, but stay with us to see what happens.
It’s so juicy and soft. Yumm….
So we have roasted salo, pork-scraps, cauliflower
fried in breadcrumb, baked mushrooms and egg.
Good appetite!
Smashing.
I also have tomatoes.
Nothing compares to a meal in Nature.
Well, that’s all, good appetite!
Hi again. Look at a pretty view over Singeorz. This was our excursion for today.
You got an idea of what it’s like to go out for a walk and you enjoy Nature.
Until next time, bye bye.
