Hi, this is Mark Blankenship, editor of TDF Stages. And you might be thinking, "Woah,
why is Mark coming to me in a video this week when I'm used to getting a written message
from him in my TDF Stages weekly newsletter. Well that's because at TDF Stages we are not
afraid of the future. And also because a couple of us also have iPads and we like to play
with the camera function.
But the point is, is I want you to know from my lips what's happening at TDF Stages this
week. As always we have stories that I'm very excited about.
We have a piece on the very first production in a brand new exciting space in Bushwick
called The Silent Barn. You'll want to hear all about how that how that show got put together.
We also have an exclusive profile with the star of Broadway's Soul Doctor about what
it takes for him to play a rock 'n' roll rabbi. He told us some really interesting things
about how that character got created and how he's changed that character over several productions.
We also have a really great new video in the Theatre Dictionary this week for "The Booth"
and if you think you know what the booth is maybe you should take a look at this video
and see if you don't learn a few things. Woah!
The last thing that I also want to point out is that, since we are making a video newsletter
about TDF Stages this week I also have this strange new opportunity to ask you some visual
questions. What does that mean? I'll tell you what it means.
Can you tell me which dictionary video this prop comes from? It's a giant sign that says
"The Factory" and it is featured in a Theatre Dictionary video. The first person who can
correctly email me with the name of the Theatre Dictionary video that that sign appears in
will get a $50 gift certificate to the TKTS booth. So now there's extra reason to dig
through the Theatre Dictionary and tell me what that sign's from.
That's it for this week's TDF Stages video newsletter. But don't forget, if you're not
already subscribed to the newsletter or you know someone who'd like to subscribe, go ahead
and sign up right here. Thanks, have a great weekend and I will see you soon!
