Hi, it's Craig Fugate, the Administrator of FEMA
and today's June 1st, the start of the 2011 Atlantic hurricane season.
There's a lot of forecasts saying this could be an above-average year.
What does that mean? It means hurricane season
starts June 1st and you need to have a plan.
If you live along the coastal areas of the east coast and gulf or even inland
you need to be ready for this hurricane season.
We don't know where the storms will strike or if they’ll strike your community but
you don't want to wait until it's too late to have a plan.
Go to ready.gov and make sure you're ready for this hurricane season.
Unlike other disasters, hurricanes have a season and they’re well forecasted in
advance, but failure to act can put you and your family in harm’s way.
Remember, now’s the time to make sure you're ready for this hurricane season.
Join the team and get prepared now
before a storm threatens your community. Thank you.
