Intramurals are important to the campus community because it helps develop the student outside
the classroom. It gives them skills to do sportsmanship, teamwork- we try to offer a
wide variety of sports for those that are not, you know, your ex-varsity athlete from
high school. Basically I coordinate all the intramural sports, tournaments, team, league
– I oversee sport clubs in helping them be successful in competition and recreation
play.(David Wiley) I’m a graduate assistant for intermural sports at Campus Recreation.
I work under Rhonda Hampton who is the assistant director. It’s fun. I mean flag football
is always a blast. (Logan Pietsch) I love football, and they don’t have tackle football
here so I guess its flag football. Yes, I did just get hit, by one of my teammates.
There’s gonna be a lot of people here so you know you’re not going to be the only
one. (Rhonda Hampton) I believe it’s helped the students join that social atmosphere that
maybe they didn’t have in high school, if they didn’t have it. (David Wiley) Gives
you something to do to get outside the classroom and get active. Get involved in something
that is exercise prone. (Logan) Flag football. Hey NIU Huskies, come watch our game Thursday
night baby, let’s go.
