In this week's episode of the JT show you'll discover what one of my favourite channels
on YouTube has been doing to increase their audience engagement and how you can use this
on your channel too.
Welcome to the JT Show where you'll discover the latest in online
video news and some sneaky marketing secrets to help you get more views, likes, subscribes
and sales. I'm JT and let's get on with the news.
Film Riot has just introduced a
Monday Challenge which has gone absolutely gangbusters. For those of you who haven't
heard of Film Riot, their a YouTube channel with videos on low budget filmmaking. I highly
recommend you check these guys out, they're one of my most favourite channels and to check
them out all you need to do is to click on the link that I'm gonna include in the description
down below this video.
So for the past couple of weeks, every Monday they've been
challenging their viewers to film really short film clips of them doing special filmmaking
techniques that they've learnt off Film Riot. Cool stuff like Headshots, Three Point Lighting
and Push & Pull Challenges and the best ones are featured on the next episode. It's hugely
popular and it's great for audience engagement and why this is important I'll explain in
the Sneaky Marketing Secret.
Audience engagement is so important because today's
YouTube is driven by engagement rather than views. Now views are still important but YouTube
also takes into account a lot of other factors in deciding your search rankings. Things like
how many likes you have, comments, subscribers or video responses. So what's so good about
the Monday Challenge and why should you do something similar for your channel?
First
of all it creates an amazing community. People are watching each other's videos, commenting
on them. Also, all of the videos that are entered into the Monday Challenge must have
the keywords "Monday Challenge" so if you do a search for "Monday Challenge" you will
find that there are loads and loads of videos. This is great for branding and the traffic
that they get from this is phenomenal. And now it's time for the question of the week.
This
week's question "What Other Forms Of Audience Engagement Have You Come Across?" Your answers
can be serious or sneaky, let's just make them as original as we can. Leave your answers
in the comments section which is down below this video and the answers that I like best
will be on next week's show.
And if you liked this week's show remember to "Like"
it by hitting the "Like" button which is down below this video or you can subscribe to my
channel by hitting the "Subscribe" button which is up above and remember to share it
with your friends. I'm JT and here are the answers to last week's question.
