Hi! This is Rich Buccola here in New York City and today on behalf of Expert Village,
I'm going to show you how to make an apple crisp rice salad. We're going to take our
beautiful apples, nice crisp and sweet apples, and give them a good chopping. Make sure you
give your apples a good wash. Take off the stems. Give your apple a slice in half, put
the flat sides down, and actually cut them in half again. We can actually try to remove
some of the core. I don't like the core. I don't think anyone does in their apple. With
a pairing knife. Be careful. Don't cut yourself. Take out that core and just remove it. Some
people don't like the skin. I actually do, so I'm going to leave it. Here's another core.
Carefully with my pairing knife. I'm just going to take out all this unhealthy hard
core that you don't want. You just want the meat of the apple. Now that the core is removed
and they're nice and clean, let's give them a good chop. I'm just looking for bite size
pieces, so I'm just going to cut my quarters in half and just put it to the side. Nice
bite size pieces like this. That looks pretty appetizing to me. 1/8 of an inch. Nice size
bite. Tate delicious. They are delicious apples. Look for the crisp and sweet ones. They are
delicious. You don't want your apples to turn yellow. I had a half a lemon. If you actually
squeeze some lemon, it'll actually give it a nice flavor and it'll prevent your apple
from turning yellow. Squeeze a nice half a lemon if you have one. Lemon juice is good
out of the bottle too. We're going to add this to our bowl of celery and just give that
a good mix. You just want to now add your sunflower seeds and your raisins to this.
Come back and let's do that.
