Hello and welcome to V HQ News!
NEWSFLASH!
Has just come in that volunteering fever has gripped the nation!
With over one million sixteen to twenty five-year-olds doing good in there community.
BUT...
This hasn't happened by no accident.
V has a super,
talented youth advisory board and guess what?
There looking for recruits
Could you be one of them?
Or could it be you?
Now, let's head over to Westminster who our correspondent is talking to somebody who was
on the past V20 board.
Thanks Rosina.
I’m here with Jon,
he’s part of the youth advisory board at the moment
so Jon, thank you for agreeing to do this interview.
so your at the moment part of the V youth advisory board,
how did you get involved in that?
Well Ste, after university I wanted to do some volunteering
to really improve my confidence and employability.
I went to Liverpool to work with disadvantaged kids,
on a V project.
and afterwards I though I want to stay involved with V.
The opportunity to work on the youth advisory board came up and I thought I had to take it!
what kind of things will the new youth advisory board do?
The new youth advisory board
are going to be really involved in every level of V’s structure
They’re going to be working with the marketing department, making sure young people know about the exciting opportunities that V offers.
They’re going to be working with the communications and IT team,
to make sure that V has a great presence online.
They’re going to be working with the projects team,
to make sure that volunteering that V sponsors in local communities
is running really well and young people are getting enough out of it.
they're going to be involved in research, knowledge and innovation
so that young peoples voice can be found and influence policy makers,
and so research can be conducted
which shows the value of youth volunteering in terms of employability, skills and confidence.
There we go and I think we will end on that note, get involved and you will not regret it!
Back to Rosina
Thanks Ste, that’s a really inspiring story about how volunteering can change lives.
so that's what they did,
just think what you could do!
I can tell that you are keen to get involved, but what does it take to be a part of this elite volunteer team?
Well let’s go over to Chris for the skills on his weather report.
Thank you Rosina
and now its time for the skills weather report.
This is a summary of what we are looking for in our young people
to join our youth advisory board.
Over in the North,
we have a band of high level communication skills.
Coming in at the North-East,
we have a sunburst of fun and laughter.
Up from the South,
we have a shower of reliability and motivation.
Coming in from the South-East, we have a storm of creativity and innovation.
Over in the Midlands,
we have a blizzard of commitment.
And you know what they say,
every cloud has a silver lining,
and the one in the North-West is full of teamwork.
Over all the picture is looking very positive for youth volunteering across all of England.
Back to Rosina in the studio.
Thanks Chris.
I?ll be getting my volunteering shades on
because the future looks
bright,
BRIGHT,
and bright.
