This is the iPad magazine portion of the campaign designed by my group for Cross Media Workflow.
The mission of our digital magazine was to attract prospective undergraduates to the
School of Media Sciences.
The title page exemplifies the design aesthetic we were trying to accomplish. We used the
RIT orange as well as the SMS blue, and a few variations of those colors.
The arrow that you see in the lower-right-hand corner informs the user that there is more
content below the current page. These types of arrows are used throughout to direct the
user through the publication.
The second page would be an overview of the department and the kinds of classes or course
content that we offer. We included the school’s innovate, transform, and connect logos into
the design to allow us to explain the department’s mission statement.
On the third page there is a pull tab to request more information from the School of Media
Sciences. It enables us to gain information from the prospective student—allowing us
to mail them a t-shirt and other materials relevant to their interests. It is located
on the side so that if they have already filled it out, they could continue reading the alumni
spotlights.
The featured alumni allow us to show where our graduates may end up working in the industry.
On the next page, we have a checklist for the prospective student to help them through
the application process. They can check the boxes, and the digital magazine saves the
selections even when it is rotated to the landscape orientation.
There are some working links on the side that allow the user to go to the admissions website
and send email.
On the last page we have some links to the social media and online presence for the school
and university.
And that’s a walkthrough of our groups digital magazine.
