Travis Robinson. I am a shooting guard for the Boston University Terriers.
D. J. Irving - point guard.
Dom Morris. I am a power forward and we are the three seniors from Philadelphia.
Freshman year we came in with a mentality that we want to do something great because
it was a group of guys out of Philly.
We all were familiar with each other, came from the same area, had the same mindset,
same style of play.
I've played basketball with Travis since I was eleven or twelve. We ended up
going to high school together.
I knew these two because they were like the talk of Philly. They had the best players in
Philly on their team so everybody wanted to play for them. Everybody wanted to play against them.
D. J.,Travis and Don--it doesn't surprise me that they are tricaptains, are better players,
and guys that really are the reason why we have a chance to be successful.
It took a look of work to get to this point. We have to credit that success to where
we grew up in Philadelphia.
I live in the heart of Philly. I have friends that, you know, are in jail,
got killed, and I feel like the thing that separated me from them is my ability
to play basketball.
The environment we lived in, it was kind of reckless. it could be. We made a pact to
ourselves that we wouldn't succumb to the negativity that surrounded us.
I used to work out every day like right after school. We would have practice and then I
work out again--go to the art museum, run the steps, the Rocky steps.
I would be home and he'll be coming home through the door late, with a huge bag and just go
right to his bed, start doing his work and that would be that. Work, school, ball, and that's what it was.
We are about to go to the Boys and Girls Club in Chester. Go play some pick up. A lot of
the older guys from Chester I used to play with for the high school, some kind of leave to
play overseas. Playing with those kids just made me tougher, made me better, knowing I
have to compete every time I went out there.
D.J. Irving, twelve to shoot, D.J. on the crossover, all the way down and lays it in with the right hand.
It started with that deadly crossover.
Now that we came to college together, it feels natural. We have a special bond on and off
the court. We're like brothers.
We can really get on each other and we all will respond well. I felt like that's the
connection we've built through the last three or four years and I feel that helps us on the court.
Aside from just knowing each other physically, like basketball-wise, I've gotten to know them
better mentally, like where their head is, where their energy level is, and I just know how to spark it.
As a team we just want to continue to get better. We obviously know what to expect being
here four years already and we are going into every game just a lot more focused.
Morris now dribbles toward the lane, gives up the dribble, leans in for the shot, banks
it in! That's a nice power move by Dom Morris.
Being seniors on our way out, we realize it will go by fast. We thought we were going to
go to four NCAA tournaments, but we have only been to one and now we are trying to get back this year.
We feel like this is our chance, this is the last chance, so we've got to go take it.
We've really been through a lot together, so we want to get out with a ***.
I am not leaving Boston University without another championship ring.
The thing about all three of those guys is that they care--they really care, you know and
it is a special thing, and something that we are going to really miss. You wouldn't want
any of other three guys to representing your program. They are just terrific people.
