Each year, the L.E.A.D. department offers
A&M-Commerce students the unique chance to get off campus, join other student leaders,
and talk about leadership at the Summer Leadership Summit. It definitely is a chance to develop
as a student leader and as a student leader on campus at Texas A&M-Commerce. So I came
back this year as a returner because I really enjoyed that. Getting to meet and greet all
of the new student leaders (and stuff) and get to know people I don't know so I build
those connections around campus. My favorite part of SLS would be the sessions. I think
I really liked how it talked about your brand and the perspective that you give other people.
I chose to attend because I want to expand on my leadership skills and I wanted to build/work
on, kind of, weaknesses and get stronger at the ones I am already good at. We're on the
beach right now... it's awesome. It's all about leadership and I will probably use it
as if I'm going back to our campus. I'll use it in my organization to lead my people. I want
to take it back in my leadership role, in my programs and the office work that I do.
I want to implement it in my actions and in my leadership around other student leaders
and just regular students. Hopefully I can inspire and kind of, build off of that and
let other people know that leadership is an important thing, kind of show that through
my actions because leadership is very important to me.
