This is Governor Steve Beshear ... About Kentucky.
I recently embarked on a seven-day economic development trip to Taiwan and Japan to strengthen
Kentucky’s economic development ties with those two countries.
The visit also allowed us to celebrate Kentucky’s 30-year sister-state relationship with Taiwan
and showcase Kentucky’s thriving Bourbon industry.
In Japan we further strengthened existing economic ties and built relationships with
businesses considering new investments in Kentucky.
I’m proud to say that meetings during this trip produced the investment of Taica, a Japanese
company that just announced an $8 million investment and 30 new jobs. The company manufactures
cubic printing for the automotive industry.
Japanese-owned manufacturing and supportive service companies already operate more than
150 facilities in Kentucky and provide more than 34,000 full-time jobs.
Kentucky’s very excited about other potential opportunities from our visit to Taiwan and
Japan.
Mutual goodwill, economic development, and prosperity are our common goals.
We look forward to capitalizing on the enormous potential that exists for Kentucky’s Bourbon
industry in Taiwan, as well as strengthening existing relationships and building new ones
that will further enhance our economic ties with Taiwan and Japan.
