All Sadie wants to do is ride her mountain bike. She’s training hard because her goal
is to start racing. When her mom dumps her with relatives for the summer, it seems like
the end of the world, until she meets Allie, who is one of the best female mountain bikers
in the state and Joe, who also races. The three friends spend the summer covering miles of
trails in southern Minnesota. Chasing Allie’s wheel, Sadie gets stronger and faster, and
feels ready to try her own wheel at racing. Something foul is afoot, however. There’s
a menacing presence in the Junk Woods. And there’s the pickup that runs Sadie and Allie
off the road. You can’t ride fast enough to escape some dangers. When Joe crashes on
a hill, Sadie, Allie, and Joe find a body in the woods…a priest, beaten, hidden, and
left for dead. Allie rides for help. And she disappears. Searching for Allie, chasing every
lead, Sadie and Joe grow closer and ride with more determination than ever. They ride the
big race at Mount Kato in spite of missing Allie and a looming sense of danger. Chasing
AllieCat becomes a matter of life and death as Sadie and Joe unravel Allie’s dark secret,
and her connection to the man in the woods. The trails through the woods—that have offered
Sadie and her friends an escape—bring them face to face with their worst fears. For Sadie,
Chasing AllieCat means chasing her own dreams, facing her fears, and being willing to pay
the price to do it, whatever that means. It’s dangerous to chase someone with a past. It’s
even more dangerous to be her friend.
