Excitement.
I love the diversity, sisterhood.
It gives students something positive
I can be myself. I don't have to pretend to be someone I'm not. They accept me for who I am.
What's go great about being in a sorority is being involved on campus, being
involved in something that is bigger than yourself
The Bond.
You really get close to these guys. Brotherhood is something
that I think every individual should
be able to experience.
When they graduate, they become a network.
You have these network connections and
from that, you never forget them, they're still involved, the alumni come back.
Bringing that fun aspect to campus, bringing that different light onto campus
It's hard to get involvement on campus, so I wanted and organization that would honestly be like a family
situation for me and would get more involved. I found that with Alpha Chi Omega.
Knowing that you have people behind you to support you with everything that you are doing.
I'ts definately making me more successful in college. Like I said, when I was not
in any organization, especially here, I did not know how to multi-task.
It has helped me so, so much. Getting a lot more orgainzed.
Having to work with five other men
is a very hard, just because you've got school schedules, people's, you know, different
types of personalities. And having to communicate with
different types of people will
prepare me to be able to communicate with my employer.
It keeps you in check. I am someone who needs structure
and I love that they keep me in check with my grades.
It has helped me with my communication skills.
This is going to be a great day
I really am excited to welcome you to this Fraternal Leadership Institute.
How many of you consider joining your fraternity or sorority one of the most
important parts of the college experience? Stand up!
You cry together and you celebrate together, and that's what you have
now as members of your greek family.
One thing that I hope you do throughout the day is think about the things you are learning
thing about what the presenters are telling you, how can you apply those to the fraternity and sorority life community so that we can continue to grow.
It's really about the experiences...
it's about the people who come in and out of your life.
Everything's connected.
Everybody wants to be valued for something specific to them, and our job as leaders is to figure that thing out.
It's everything that I want for myself for the future.
stepping up to these leadership roles
that we currently have is actually
a great resume builder.
So I am learning new rules
new ways to implement within our chapter.
How every time good deed
every act
can make a big difference
there's someone out there
you could always need your help
and for me that's what philanthropy is all about.
And for the sorority that is on campus, Alpha Chi Omega,
that's their national philanthropy, so we got to work with them
and do a bigger scale program that what we probably could have done my ourselves.
People think that UNCG Greek Life isn't very prominent here.
But even though we are only a small percentage of the student population
we do some of the biggest
things altogether. Like
early, you know, over forty thousand dollars raised, thousands of can food
raised for charities and things like that which we match up to bigger
schools like UNC and State,
and we have probably fifty percent
(I think that is what I learned when I did the research)
their population of their Greek Life.
So we really do try hard and we have a lot of great student leaders.
Going through this, I am going to be able to take this with me.
Definately, a good majority will
be in my life for a long time, I know.
Being a brother is something that is life-long. I'll know these guys for the rest of my life.
So it is something that stays with you.
It's solid.
It's something that's really going to
prepare you in every aspect of life.
That is something that I feel is unique to fraternities and sororities.
I always come back to them and say, "It's a lot of work, but it always worth it in the end."
And I would never, ever give up my faternity for anything.
