Hi there. This is a quick tutorial
on how to remove duplicates
in Excel from 2010.
The reason I'm not going back
to 2003 and other versions
is simply I'd recommend upgrading your software
to 2010 because there's so many new things that
have come out on Excel that make your life easier.
I'm not gonna go back to stop that's already been written.
And 2010, I know there's newer versions of Excel
but I recommend 2010 purely because I find them
from so much easier to use than older versions.
As you can see here, we've got duplicates deserve for
a job I'm doing at the moment. There's a lot of
triplicates because there coming in from another spreadsheet
which has a lot more information. These were actually part of
one row whether it actually be
three different sections on the next line on the same row.
Sorry. Yeah! there'll be three. This would only be like one in a column
but the next row would have three different descriptions for different things.
So, when you copy it across and only want the data,
I ended up with three because it's taking it as individual lines
and not that the fact that they were merge cell on the last page.
Ignore that for what we're about to do
but simply that's why I've ended up with triplicates.
That's the reason that you may come across yourself.
Now, on 2010 Excel you'll see there's a data tab.
If you click on that, you got this menu come up
and then you got remove duplicates.
Now, what I generally do, I just go to the top normally.
Just to make sure that everything is included.
Click the top of the tab. Go back to data.
Remove duplicates. Now, expand the selection
will actually turn around and ask you,
which other ones you want to do. Say you wanted to do
C & D as well as the other one
you do it simply just add the
location of floor and then remove the other ones.
And it all sort through all of them the one you select.
We'll gonna select all.
I'll cancel that again because that's one way of doing it.
In case you want us to do multiple columns.
But for me I just need to do one so, I'm just gonna continue with the selection
which is only the one I highlighted "K"
And you'll see here, remove duplicates. It's only gonna remove the duplicates from there.
There you go.
352 values remain.
It's taking out thousands of them.
And that's simply it. And you can see the amount has been removed
from the other,
the other column.
It's as simple as that.
okay thank you.
