Hello there unboxers!
This is Sakis Karpas, your usual host. In this episode, I'm unboxing the hottest smartphone of this period, Sony Xperia Z.
The retail package follows the design of the Xperia series with a simple yet elegant look.
Technical features and specifications of the phone are written on the back side of the box.
Since I have a lot to say about Sony Xperia Z, I'm going to cut to the chase!
The first item we find inside is Sony Xperia Z. I'll leave it aside for now.
Package Contents: 1. A USB Cable used for charging and transferring data
2. An AC Adapter
3. A set of earphones (replacement parts included)
4. Two Smart Tags (NFC Technology, manual included)
5. Manuals in different languages
Let's take a closer look at the phone!
Glass inserts can be found on each side section of the Sony Xperia Z, ensuring a consistent texture all around the phone.
Sony Xperia Z features tempered glass covered by shatterproof film on front and back which makes for a quite stylish phone.
It's sides have tough glass fibre polyamide frame, a material that is used as a substitute to metal in many car parts.
It also features a rubber edging around the smartphone, which protects the device in case it is dropped or bumped. Also, Sony Xperia Z is apt to dust and fingerprints as you can see in this video.
All ports feature rubber seals, which allow the Sony Xperia Z to be waterproof. We'll show you more later in this video.
We can't contradict or confirm the fact that Sony Xperia Z can endure 30 minutes under water for obvious reasons.
On its front side, Sony Xperia Z has a 2.2 MP camera which can capture Full HD videos up to 30 frames
a speaker, a touch sensitive sensor and a LED light used for notifications.
A microphone along with a nick which can be used for neck straps.
On the left side of the phone, we can find two pins along with a micro sd card slot and a USB port.
A headphones slot can also be found on the top side of the phone while...
...on the right side of the phone we find a sim card slot, an on/off button, a volume slider and a speaker.
I found the quality of the speaker quite bad and its position terrible since most of the times it was covered by my palm.
On the back side we find a 13MP camera along with a LED flash and another microphone.
Let's take a look at the dimensions of the phone!
5-inch display

It's time to take a look at the phone specs!

Sony Xperia Z supports all 2G/3G/4G networks.
Sony Xperia Z ships to stores with Android 4.1.2 pre-installed.
Sony has modified its software so that it can match the company's and the phone's feel and look.
Sony Xperia Z's powerful specs create a smooth, unique and fast experience.
An important feature of the phone is the Stamina mode.
The latest version of Sony’s Mobile Bravia Engine further enhances proceedings by sharpening images and reducing noise when you are looking at still pictures or video.
What we didn't like about Sony Xperia Z was its toneless colors, its bad black levels and the brightness of the screen in low light conditions.
What we really liked though, was the fact that we could not distinguish a single pixel. Browsing the web and reading e-books on Sony Xperia Z is simply put a unique experience.
Also, Sony Xperia Z's 13MP camera is simply great since it can capture photos of up to 4000 X 3000 pixels.
It can also capture Full HD video up to 30 frames. The results are overwhelming as you can see from the samples we took.
Sony Xperia Z is available now and it costs €699. Be sure to look in many stores as you may find it even €150 cheaper than its original price.
Undoubtedly, Sony Xperia Z is one of the best Android smartphones currently available on the market.
It's not the perfect smartphone nor a cheap one but if you're looking for the best of the best, you don't have that much of a choice.
