I am most impressed during this conference of the people who live what they say.
This is not book knowledge or head knowledge, it's not theoretical knowledge.
It is that...people...the presenters of the workshops I have been to are people who are living in the neighborhoods
and impacting the people in the neighborhoods in which they live.
One presenter yesterday made the statement...he had children.
He had one child that he hires for one hour a week and he pays this kid ten bucks ($10)
to help come clear the alleyways because it takes him an hour and he speaks into this child's life and says: "You are a good worker, I am thrilled".
He speaks to this child's gifts and he speaks into his life in the neighborhood. But this man
intentionally, deliberately moved into the neighborhood
and is seeking ways to empower people in the neighborhood itself to be able to live a better life and change their lives.
I have been very impressed by the passion of the speakers.
That they not just people who have said: "Oh, I've researched this for my book".
but they are actually living and seeking to make a difference in the lives of the people they serve.
They see their faith not just as a "I'm gonna sit on a church pew" kind of faith, but their faith is an action.
Doing what needs to be done so that change comes to the people whose needs they serve.
