Hello everybody, it's Haluna Matata with another video guide teaching you ways to make gil
in Final Fantasy XIV. Today I'm going to show you a nice way of earning some gil through
fishing. Alchemists make an item called Shark Oil,
and the only way to obtain this is through fishing up 2 sharks, hammerhead sharks and
silver sharks. Silver sharks are the rarer of the two and for this reason are more expensive,
currently selling at 1500 gil each on my server.
This isn't a way to earn quick money by any means, in fact it's pretty slow. However,
fishing is easy and relaxing to do. You can do it whilst watching TV, listening to music
and you don't really have to concentrate. To catch these fish
use the lugworm bait. In order to catch silver sharks, head to Costa Del Sol in Eastern La
Noscea, and head south to bloodshore. Once you're there, cast out and wait for a fish
to bite, then reel it in. You're only going to be catching
Merlthor Gobys. Once you catch a HQ one, you can mooch this to catch a bigger fish, either
a silver shark or blue octopus, though it tends to be silver shark more often than not.
I use a macro which incorporates the mooch into the cast,
so I don't even have to really pay attention. If the option to mooch is available it'll
use that, if not it'll cast normally. I've put it in the description of the video. That's
pretty much all that's involved, a nice, easy and relaxing
method of earning some gil.
As I said before, the money you earn from it isn't really great, but it's a more enjoyable
experience than charging about gathering stuff up. Most fishing spots are really scenic.
So really it's something to do if you're bored and just wanna
chill out, but wanna make some gil whilst doing it. Once you've caught some sharks you
can either sell em straight up, or craft them into shark oil which further increases their
value, it's up to you.
Hopefully come 2.2 and the ominous Big Fishing may offer something new for fishers, only
time will tell.
That's it for now guys, thanks for watching and take care.
