In today's episode of "Ich geh' angeln"
We just arrived in beautiful Saxony-Anhalt.
Hey Victor, you're already here.
...but i didn't know we'd be going to the jungle.
He's got power.
We just arrived in beautiful Saxony-Anhalt where many nice waters like Elbe or Havel are located.
Andreas from Global Fishing invited me to go fishing here at the Havel
since he catched really nice in the last few days.
We usually wanted to go to the Elbe but this might be difficult due to floodings in the last months.
Let's take a look what Andreas thinks about it!
No one here?
Let's take a look.
Here, this is where they present their lures.
I'll raffle this off hereafter.
Hey Andreas.
Hey Victor, you already arrived.
Sure!
Too early, i havent finished my work yet!
Come on, Andreas...
So we go fishing today?
Yea.
Nice you are here, I'm very happy about it!
You invited me and have shown me some big fish, so here I am!
Yes, a lot to catch around here.
So you prefer Elbe or Havel?
Well, you usually wanted to fish at the Elbe but it really suffered due to floodings.
Last year was pretty good but this year I rarely catched a pikeperch over 60cm.
Thus I thought about fishing at the Havel today.
You're the guide and I'll follow!
Ok, I'll just put some different clothes on and we're ready, right?
I'm always prepared, let's go!
And here you prepackage your boxes?
Well, some parts for our boxes are already here. This is basically our main stock location for Global Fishing.
Stuff we need to send fast lays around here. We also have a second storage for the big stuff.
Many things for our fishing boxes are already here.
We need to plan in advance, so, we have about 7000 lures in stock.
What's in the next fishing box?
Well, numerous want to know but of course we are not going to reveal the content.
The fun is about to not know what's inside, but approximately 4 to 7 brand lures will be within.
Can you get more precisely?
I don't want to remove the fun! The box is available on the 16th.
Nice thing!
You have lures and stuff with you, Victor?
What exactly do we need?
Shad in this case is always good, but with slightly heavier heads due to a stronger river flow today.
I'd say at least 10 gramme in weight and 10 cm in length. Perch-like, it's a favourite.
Well, I have somewhat with me.
In case of an emergency, I have enough around here!
I'm sure about it, I'll trust in your hints!
I knew we would be going into nature, but I didn't know about the jungle part.
Just kidding, it's beautiful! Not for my car, but for fishing.
So.. Crazy paths! You see, enough space for fishing.
Still, I'd like to keep going to a place where i catched most fish so far.
If wind gets stronger, 100m away is also a bunch of trees as a windbreak.
Something funny is this 150m sand beach here at the Havel which is very unusual.
This mainly occured after the floodings this year.
Water stage was about 2,5m higher than normal right here.
Sick.. but it's looking awesome!
Yes, very nice spots. Let's drive an additional 500m to start fishing.
So we'll arrive in an hour?
What? Oh you're joking, I didn't get it at first!
Yea! Alright.
Here?
Yes later on, if the wind gets stronger. This spot is also very good for carp fishing.
I'm missing it, but it's very time-consuming. Nevertheless, let's take a look.
What's this? Nice.
What kind of bait is it?
Haha, maybe for bass if you're fishing in the USA.
Nicely done with an offset hook!
This is a former landing for boats. That's why the whole next 2km are covered with stone packages.
Before the german fusion you wouldn't be allowed to stay around here as an East German.
Only ships from West Germany were allowed to anchor at this landing to prevent East Germans escaping.
That's why it's getting downwards abruptly.
Among these stones are alot of small fish and therefor predators aswell.
The river flow is pretty high, right?
Completely different. It's about 7km where Havel discharges into Elbe.
From over there they regulate the flow with a barrage.
Right now we have the normal case of river flow.
Finally we're at the water! It seems good for predators although we didn't catch anything yet.
Looking forward anyway.
So, Andreas, I'm having the right lure now. What else do I have to consider due to river flow etc.?
Ok, as I said before there are stone packages at the edge with a lot of small fish.
Pike really like to hang around there.
You can also try to fish more central where the flow is heavier. You may potentially hit a perch school.
According to my experience pike like to stay at those stone packages though.
We just started to fish! It's not as easy as I thought it would be.
Especially the river flow, wind and so on is very different than what I'm used to.
However, my feelings tell me there is something to catch today.
I really have to get used to this water because the river flow is very strong.
At home in Berlin 5 to 7 gramme are enough to fish the Spree efficiently.
Here we need at least 10 gramme. Yea.. let's see if I get along with that.
It's different, but a good fisher catches everywhere!
How is it going?
I successfully lost a shad so far! Anyway, just warm-up. Let's get somewhat more downstream.
A very small one. But at least I caught fish. Andy, you gotta keep up!
I will follow up for sure.
A lot of pike around here. But he was under-sized anyway.
I can hardly guess. Thought about perch, but it's looking like a smaller pike.
Might just be around 40cm but he's having power nonetheless.
Nice drill! Small but nice.
Keep going like that!
Already lost.
Right out of the flow.
They're getting bigger.
That's how I like it.
Good guiding, right?
Totally.
Small coffee, piece of cake - mood is getting up again!
Yea. If I shall advertise you as a guide, Andreas, just tell me!
Haha, no, my catching success is varying too much.
To be honest, it's sad when people pretend about always catching fish. It's common that there are days were you just catch
smaller or even no fish.
This is part of fishing and shouldn't reduce the fun you have.
Sure, going outside, having fun, cake and coffee - that's it.
If the flow is strong, I really like to work with it.
Try get the lure across the flow and let it drift on the bottom.
Also helps to feel for the ground. It's a good option if the flow is stronger like in our case.
Oh.. Victor!
He's good.
Get over here, he's good.
I hope it hit good, it's just a single hook.
Victor, can you set up the unhooking mat?
Already know what it is?
No, but... most likely a big pike!
I can hardly guess due to the flow but just take a look, he is strong.
You got to give him space.
I still hope the single hook is placed well.
What's your guess?
Probably about 90 cm.
Nice thing! He lost one before but this one is good.
We don't have him yet. Anything can happen until the end.
So, Victor, now it's your turn!
You want to pressure me now?
Somewhat.
You can't.
Finally.
Awesome!
It's about 90 cm, right?
I'd say so.
It's 91 cm.
I told you that I'm good at guessing!
I thought he had about 85 cm but he had much power indeed.
Fine, let's release him.
Acclimate him slowly.. but he still has so much energy to wet my pants!
Hey Victor, did you catch any more fish?
Sadly I didn't, but it was awesome still.
Fine, I lost another lure at the end, of course. Anyway, you had fun?
Totally, Andreas. The heavy river flow was a new experience for me though.
Overall we had good success catching multiple pike. Andreas had the biggest with 91 cm.
Some smaller ones we did not record or lost during the drill.
All in all I highly recommended fishing at the Havel.. but we don't reveal the spots!
Apart from that, what's your thought?
First of all, secret spots don't really matter as there is so much efficient space to fish around here.
We had one nice fish while I'd say it's more important that both of us caught some fish.
Some pike, some perch - nice result!

Victor, please don't overrun me. I can't walk backwards that fast.
And it's no outtake material!
Did you record, ***?
Yes, and it's going to be officially released on your site!
They're getting bigger..
Wait, what? You mean bigger than mine?
Overall a nice day here at the Havel and... ***.
