Pilots, the Archer Heavy Lock-On Rocket launcher is one of our most common anti-titan weapons.
Given line of sight it'll lock on to an enemy titan from up to 400 feet, usually more than
enough distance. That lock-on takes one to one and a half seconds, and your target will
be alerted to the lock-on attempt as well as it's general direction.
The rockets are fairly slow and can take more than a second to reach the target, leaving
ample opportunity for the them to move into cover and avoid the rocket. You'll need a
lengthly reload after each shot and the practical minimum time between shots is roughly six
seconds. You'll often see a titan's shields start to come back up in that amount of time.
Now that would be a problem, if our observations hadn't shown us that shields typically have
minimal to no effect on the Archer's damage. Even better, the shields get shredded too,
taking more than five of the six shield blocks with a single hit. Actual damage is a complicated
topic and we're still working on it. In some cases the shields can eat it all the damage.
All we're sure of now is that it's inconsistent. The Archer will typically do about twenty
five hundred damage to a titan. That means, four for an atlas, three for a stryder and
five for and ogre. The Amped Archer does considerably more damage,
completely removing shields and about thirty-five-hundred damage. Making stryders two hits, atlases
and ogres three. But its rocket is considerably slower and you almost out run it.
Just don't be shy about using an Archer against a shielded titan. See the description for
additional and updated info. Now get out there and turn some titans into salvage.
