Computer Games Today with Seth
(Computer Games Today)
(with Seth)
Ok, and uh
well coming up next uh... we have
uh... two
members of the
uh... burgeoning arcade uh...
console maker,
um...
which is known as
Bitsplay and they have made a number of arcade experiences
that have ah... really caught on in quite a big way
in most of the arcades of today.
And here they are this is uh... we have Dean and Bruce and
and uh well we just welcome them and uh... great guys, tell us a little bit about
yourselves and about your company.
-Aright thank you very much it's real nice to be here
well uh... I'm originally from Arkansas
and uh... Dean?
uh... I'm also from Atlanta
Tell you the truth uh... we're not uh... we're not old hands in this sort of
the computer- computering games trade
we uh... Well why don't you tell em, Dean?
Yeah well we're not
much from a background in video games but uh...
well Bruce comes from
uh the
the uh remote control industry and uh... and I come from a background in
barbecue sauce.
and in the past few years the market's become real oversaturated with
barbecue sauce
companies. And uh...
Yeah y'know they've got these computer games
and are th-they
they y'know, the older people say this is just gonna wreak havoc
on the youth
and rot their brains, but I think these are real good trainers
for motor skills
and in a few years you could have these kids
join the armed forces and you know just uh... boy they'll shoot down a couple
*** missiles just like that, y'know? -Yeah whatever you gotta do to protect
the red white and blue y'know, uh...
So anyway, -And you know not to mention why we got into this y'know
these guys playin' their electric computering games which is uh...
Y'know they're playing, they're just havin' a whole helluva lot of fun...
and uh... it's great.
You know they got one of them games where you're just uh... a marble
and you're trying to uh... to get through these labyrinthine levels just
to get yourself to freedom.
uh... Anyway, you know i'm not a real good will that kinda hand-eye
coordination kind of stuff myself
but I been watching these guys playing the games and
well it just looked like a helluva lot of fun, y'know...
Ok, great and so you have a game that you're marketing and bringing to us
it's currently only available in arcade consoles, Paul. I have a copy for
my computer but, um
for the average consumer it's not available it's called "Border Patrol" it's a real
great synopsis and just a real uh great adventure
and uh, well, what can you tell us about that?
What the game is about is really just um
Y'know it's a young man and he's uh Mexican and he's just trying to get to the land of opportunity...
(Game sounds...)
We're in talks right now with some of the guys from Sega
couple guys from Nintendo
really trying to back the Neo-Geo right now, get in there
-The thing about these games is you
aren't going to
the circus arcade to play them. You can buy a console and you can
hook them right up into your home computer or your TV/VCR and it
it don't take no tapes you don't need a remote
and you can just sit there and you play
great games all kind of titles.
We got -over there at BitsPlay
we got, uh Squid Master
we Ninja Nightmare we got Cooks on the Run
Just a couple of titles that BitsPlay's come up with in just the past year.
and the real exciting thing, too
uh, I'm just real excited about we're even talking about -We're in talks about making
this into a full-length
feature.
uh full length feature -feature movie.
so I -I'm thinking Steven Seagul can be the mexican
yeah, he can be the immigrant trying to get over the border and
You know jean claude van dam he's
uh... he'll be one of these uh... renegade rodeo ranch arrows y'know just
trying to protect his
his land from these guys.
What i'm saying is video games like this they're gonna take over
And in ten years from now
there's not going to be any more hollywood.
I mean consoles, y'know
Instead of movie theaters there's gonna be a row of conosoles
and you're just gonna pay your $2.50
and just go in and play whatever
game you wanna see.
And you know I come from the barbecue sauce industry if it's one thing that i know
about people it's that if you get the right mix
of just the right spices and just the right seasonings
and you have your sweet
and your savory
and you -you could feed anything to people and I'm telling' you what if you, it's
just like that video game.
You they have people eating right outta your hand.
If you have the right graphics and the right
if you have the right
uh if you have the right
images coming off that screen
and the right sounds
there's some good the text going on in the bottom there
then uh that's the right ingredients
and you'll have people buying your whole
game
so you uh you -you heard it here first folks uh...
mark a mark my words
uh... BitsPlay and Border Patrol is going to be the hollywood of the future you
can look no further than us for uh... for the future of entertainment in the
united states of america.
