Continent-wide animal welfare publication launches in Europe. On Monday, July 5, the
European Commission announced the premiere edition of “Action and Understanding: The
Animal Welfare Newsletter.” Available twice annually, the publication is intended to highlight
the recognition of animals as sentient beings through its presentation of recent animal
welfare developments and trends. Moreover, comments and feedback are invited from the
public in the hope of creating active dialog for further improvements. The newsletter’s
first edition, for example, features resources to inform children at an early age about the
sensitive and aware nature of animals, along with news of the upcoming First International
Conference on Education and Animal Welfare in Brussels, Belgium set to occur in October
this year.
A big bravo European Commission for offering the public information about constructive
developments as well as the need for continued efforts on behalf of our animal co-inhabitants.
Blessed be such forward thinking measures in helping usher us into an era where all
beings co-exist in harmony and respect.
