DADDY TROY: Welcome back to Gear Daddy. I'm your host Daddy Troy and today's topic: Ten
things you can get at IKEA for under ten dollars.
Today's episode is brought to you by Baby Bjorn, best baby gear on the planet, Baby
Bjorn. First up today we've got these stools from
Ikea. This stool right here is $7.99, under $10. It's got these non skid dots on it as
well as on the feet. It's great for the bathroom for little kids to stand upon in order to
wash their hands or brush their teeth. If you've got an older child they have one that's
only $3.50, a shorter version right here. At our house we've tried to get rid of all
plastic drinking cups mainly because of BPA and we've got a DadLabs episode about that
if you don't know what it is. In order to get rid of those plastic cups we got these
glasses from Ikea for $2.99 for 6 and they're great for little hands and they've even got
smaller ones for smaller hands. You do run the risk of kids dropping them but as a family
that was a calculated risk but we find that it teaches kids more respect for the glass
if they know it can break. Speaking of cups there's also a play tea set
over here. It's $9.99. Super cute little tea set right here. You've got the tea cups and
the saucers and the sugar and the creamer and you've got these cups right here. Kids
are going to love this. At a buck ninety nine per frame you can get
five of these for under ten bucks. For $2.99 you can get an analog clock. My
kid was learning to tell time at school and he came home one day and we realized that
throughout the house all we had were digital clocks and lots of them. So I decided to not
only buy one but two. One for the kitchen and one for his bedroom.
Speaking of bedrooms we've got this flower nightlight for $9.99. It takes a low wattage
bulb. The light spills around the side and out of the circles on the face of the flower.
What I really like is that the flower is a green stem. You could put multiple ones in
your kid's room and it can look like you're growing a flower garden.
Another lamp that I really like at Ikea. This one's only $6.99. It mounts up against the
wall like that. And I have a story behind this one. My son wasn't getting a whole lot
of sleep. He kept getting up at night so I made a deal with him. He's really into chapter
books right now and I said, "Dude, if you want to read and extra chapter at night by
yourself, here's what you're going to do, we're going to put this lamp on your wall
and you can turn it on, read a chapter and turn it off. Solved my kid's sleep problems.
Love this product. And this cute little coat hook that's the
back end of a dog. It goes flush against the wall. $1.99. Super cute.
[Wood and metal toy: $7.99] One of the biggest challenges of any parent
is getting your kid to clean up his room. This device right here opens up. You hang
it on the wall using this hook. It hangs flush with the wall. It has these eyes on the front.
You hang it down at kid level and then inside it has a tongue. It can hold lightweight toys
like stuffed animals or clothes. [Tent: $9.99. DadLabs Book: $15.99]
That's all for this week on Gear Daddy. I'll have links to all of these on my blog over
at DadLabs.com. And I'll also have a special blog this week: the top ten survival tips
for taking your kids to Ikea. Also, we've got tons of reviews over at DadLabs.com of
other Ikea products. We'll see you next time on Gear Daddy and all week long at DadLabs.com.
