Chester’s Suicide Sees 2 Linkin Park Albums Dance Back To Top 10
Shortly after the group’s frontman Chester Bennington committed suicide, two albums by Linkin Park danced back into the top 10 on the US sales chart.
As fans mourn the suicide of the frontman with a raw metal voice, One More Light, the California rockers’ final album, which hit number one when it was released in May, jumped back to number four on the Billboard chart for the week.
Also, Linkin Park’s debut album, Hybrid Theory which was the top-selling US album of 2001 at the time of its release, is back at number eight on the latest weekly chart according to tracking service Nielsen Music.
The US Billboard chart which was released a day later than the scheduled time following technical issues, saw the melancholic pop singer Lana Del Rey debuting at number one with her latest album *** for Life.
The album featuring stars like The Weeknd to Stevie Nicks, sold 107,000 units or the digital equivalent, narrowly edging out new albums by rappers Tyler, The Creator and Meek Mill.
Linkin Park also received love across the continent as the band’s song Numb topped the latest song download charts in Singapore and Hong Kong.
Chester Bennington who sang alongside Linkin Park guitarist Mike Shinoda and others was found hanging at his Los Angeles home on July 20.
The 41-year-old reportedly struggled with drug and alcohol addictions and the trauma of child abuse at various times in his life.
Prior to his death, the singer tried so hard to stay focused amid drug and alcohol abuse. He’s survived by six children from his two marriages.
He had been married to his second wife Talinda Ann Bentley, a former Playboy model, for 12 years. Family and friends buried Chester in a private ceremony on Saturday in Los Angeles as seen in social media postings of participants.
The band has also endorsed hundreds of public events around the world to honor him. The events may include charity shows, fan meet-ups and more.
