Interviewer: "So what's it like being out here, helping these students move in?"
Chancellor Cheek: "It's really great to be here with all our new students.
You know, we have 4,200 new freshmen coming here on campus and this is our move-in day.
So it is a real great opportunity for our families and them to come here and get established
in the residence halls. And we are just trying to help them and their families
to move some of their materials in up before it moves to a room."
Interviewer: "Do you have any move-in memories of your own?"
Cheek: "Yeah, I do. When I moved into my dormitory, way back, a long time ago,
we had to park a long way away form the dorm. Nobody was there to help us.
And there were no carts, so you had to carry every single thing yourself.
Or if you had someone with you, you had to carry it all yourselves. And mine was on the top floor, four floors up."
Interviewer: "Uphill both ways?"
Cheek: (laughing) "That's right, that's right."
Interviewer: "In the snow?"
Cheek: "No, not in the snow. It was hot.
Remember I went to school…" Interviewer: "That's right, in Texas."
