Hi, my name is Sheryl McGlochlin with CrazySheryl.com, and welcome to ExpertVillage.com. I want to
talk about when you should actually go on a walk or a hike in the winter months. Generally
speaking, it gets lighter much later in the morning than it does in the summertime, so
plan your hike or walk around 9:00 or 10:00 in the morning. Much before that, it will
probably still be dark. And then just know that the sun will be setting normally around
5 o'clock. It starts to get dark around 4 or 5, and so kind of stay more in the middle
hours of the day, and you'll be safe that way. However, there's going to be times when
you are going to be in the dark, not because it was planned, but always carry in your backpack
some type of a little LED headlamp or something, because lots of times we do have to do things
when we hadn't planned on it, or someone gets stranded, and it's always a great idea to
be prepared. Headlight, and bringing your backpack along with you.
