How does the US Government intend to deal with the growth in Disability claimants.
Hi I'm Marc Whitehead, a Board Certified Social Security Disability Attorney.
People are always asking me questions about the Social Security Disability system.
and about how the government plans to keep up with the costs.
so that they don't lose out on their benefits.
and I always tell them not to worry, when push comes to shove
politicians always find the money somewhere, because no one wants to lose millions of votes.
That being sad, it doesn't mean that you shouldn't learn more
by reading our free ebook and by listening to various proposals out there to change the social security disability program.
As a Social Security Disability Attorney, I've always kept my ear to the ground.
It makes sense that we have more disabled people today then ever,
due to our increased understanding of medical issues,
and an addition of an incredible number of women to the work force
the social security disability insurance program has grown by leaps and bounds over the last several decades.
to include many more people who are deserving of benefits.
unfortunately the budget hasn't been able to grow at the same rate
leading to lots of hand wringing
The lastest organization for *** to the fear mongering
is the Congressional Budget Office, or the CBO
in their latest report they fault to 1984 Disability amendments
with loosening standards in other words providing more deserving people with the money they need to live.
And even go so far as blaming people with mental impairments and muscular skeletal disorders
for not dying as fast as other disabled people.
Naturally most of their suggestions involve cuts.
What does the CBO wanna cut?
Their list is quiet long but it involves not just cuts, but fundamental changes to the Social Security Disability Program.
These include: Lowering benefits for new beneficiaries over all by 15%,
And for new benefices who start receiving benefits at age 63 or before by 35% until they reach age 62
by making benefits grow slower, by changing the wage indexing measure,
by getting rid of Social Security Disability eligibility at age 62,
by changing whats known as the recent work rules,
so people would have to work 4 out of the last 6 years instead of 5 out of the last 10 years.
by raising minimum ages for benefits in every category by 2 years,
by lengthening to social security disability insurance waiting period from 5 months to 1 year,
by following the VA model and offering only partial disability payments based on level of impairment.
Don't let them get away with it, contact your representative in congress.
and if you're filing a claim or fighting a denial, make sure your work with an experience Social Security Disability Attorney
Who can answer all of your Social Security questions
