Hey there! I'm Kirsten and I wanted to make
a video kind of talking about the movies and TV shows
that I've been watching, and the books that I've been reading
this past month. So, I think every month I'm going to put up a video
about these things and call them my monthly rewind.
Um, get it? Cause like movies TV show, rewind. Yeah?
Remember when you actually had to rewind
your movies to watch them? I remember that.
And you would get fine if you rented a video and you didn't bring it back rewound.
So like I said I'm going to talk about the movies and
TV shows that I've been watching. I'm also going to give my Netflix
picks, because I am a Netflix junkie and I'm totally
addicted, I just love Netflix. I think it's the best 8 bucks a month
that I spend. So to start off, I'm going to talk about the movies that I've watched
and I'm not going to go into detail with all the titles, with
what they're about. I'm just going to say whether I liked it or not and maybe just give
like a really really brief
summary on the plotline.
Because if I start talking about a title too much
like, I just go way too far and this video will be way too long.
So the first movie that I watched was Pacific Rim.
Basically it's about an alien invasion but they didn't come from outer
space.
They came from under the sea. And they're called Kaiju's,
and it's about how
the world is fighting back by creating their own monsters.
I forgot what they're called. Jaegers!
So they fight the Kaiju's with
robots that they created called Jaeger's. And it takes two people to
control the Jaeger's. That was the only movie that I watched on DVD. I also watched
the movie's,
Epic and Rise of the Guardians. I went on a little bit of an animated movie kick
this month I guess.
And those were amazing!
Like, the animation on those two movies
were amazing. While, Epic, I think the storyline wasn't like,
you know anything really special.
The effects and the animation were what made it just
amazing.
The only book that I read this month was Beautiful Chaos.
And usually I read about three or four books a month.
I tend to read a book a week usually but this month, I just,
I don't know. Sometimes I do go through a little bit of like a
like a dry spell of reading and I just don't feel like
reading as much.
But this month... yeah this month was one of those months.
And it's by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl.
It's the third book in the beautiful creatures series.
Which I started reading last year
Right around the time the movie came out. I'm a freak about watching the movie..
I mean, I'm a freak about reading the book before
I see the movie. The beautiful creature series, yeah, it's one of those
you know supernatural love story's.
Like mortal... one's a mortal and one's a supernatural.
In this case it's a mortal guy and
supernatural girl and she's a Caster; which is basically a witch.
But they're not called witches, they're called Casters.
It's about how on her 16th birthday she'll be claimed
which means she'll either go light or dark and
it's a curse on her family. And she'll either
be able to practice dark magic or
light magic. So this is the third one and
the first two were really, really good. And obviously it made me want to read the third one.
And I just started on the fourth one. One thing about these books
though, every single one, it took me a good
100 pages to really really get into it.
Like the first about 100 pages were
really slow and it took me a long time,
and this happened with each book. But once
you know you get past those first 100 pages...
it is so good!
So for TV shows, I've been watching a new show called Chicago PD.
It's a really good show and I think it's, it's not really like a spin-off but it's like
an extension of
Chicago Fire and they've had a couple of cross-over episodes.
They even crossed over with SVU too,
Law & Order: SVU; which was pretty cool.
So it's,
the first two episodes, watch those.
if you haven't seen it, watch the first two episodes and you will be hooked!
They are like sit on the edge of your seat kind of action.
It's really really good! So the next show I've been watching is called Killer Women.
And it's about a woman who is a Texas Ranger
and she's one of only two women in the Texas Rangers.
Basically it's all about her trying to solve cases
of murders committed by women.
And, um, it's another really
good show and I just love shows where like, they have to figure out a
a case and I don't know, I just think those kind of shows are so much fun.
And the last show that I've been watching is called
The Foster's and I watched it last year
and just watched again on Netflix and then a new season premiered a few weeks
ago.
Basically it's about two women who
are raising a family of foster kids.
Except for one; one was one of the lady's son.
And it's just, it's such a good
show and like, a feel good show.
Like 7th Heaven, it reminds me a lot of 7th Heaven.
But with foster kids and
two women and not religious.
But it's just, I wish there were more
shows that were like this just because it's like
all reality television now, like,
the shows that I've found like Killer Women and Chicago PD and The Fosters, like,
those are the kinds of shows that I like because
they're not reality television. And they, like actually
are written really well and acted really well and, like,
the people in it are talented. I mean it's just
Those are the kinds of things I like.
So here are my Netflix picks for the month. I usually like to watch
an hour show and a half hour show, like, I like to have
two different shows going. Not like at the same time.
I like to watch 30-minute shows right before bed and then I
will put the one-hour shows on during the day while
I'm working or doing whatever I have to do that day and I
like having those playing in the background. For the one-hour show
I've been watching, Psych, actually first I watched
Dexter. I watched all 8 seasons
from the end of January to about halfway through February. It took me about
two-and-a-half weeks
to watch all 8 seasons. I'd been wanting to watch Dexter
for a while now and just never got around to watching it. And then Netflix
got it. It was really really good,
I wouldn't say it's my favorite show or anything like
that but I liked it enough to keep going and watch all the episodes.
It... I mean, it was good.
The writing was good, it just it moved a little bit too slow for me
but other than that it was good. And it
ended, I hated the way it ended, like the series finale.
Oh my gosh. Any then I started watching Psych.
I've already most of the episodes because I usually watch it when it airs. So that
is what I'm working on right now. I love that show, it's hilarious! Then, I also started watching
Rules of Engagement which
I've only watched the first season so far which is like only 7 episodes.
And so far I really like that show. I've seen a few episodes
like, random here and there on TV.
But so far I really like it, I think it's hilarious.
I love Patrick Warburton, I think he's so funny.
So for movies on Netflix, the only movie I watched this month was The Croods.
Again, animation theme going on here and that was
so funny. It's about a family of cavemen who have to leave their cave
and find somewhere safer because their home is about to be destroyed beacause Earth
is changing. It reminded me a lot of Ice Age
and love those movies, I think they're so cute.
And how they had to leave because the ice was melting.
It's kind of like that.
The only new video game that I started playing was
Lego Marvel Superheroes and I've only
completed two levels so far. But I
love the Lego games; I think they're so cute and so
much fun! That is it for today and
thank you very much for watching and
I'll see you next time! Bye! :)
