Maria Spinu >> The easiest way and the most practical way to protect air infiltration
is by sealing the building envelope with a continuous air barrier system. A continuous
air barrier system includes a primary air barrier component and the installation and
continuity accessories that allows you to seal the building envelope in a continuous
plane of air tightness. Maria Spinu >> An air barrier material is
a material that resists airflow, resists air infiltration. There are many building materials
that are air tight, but not every airtight material makes a good air barrier. In order
to be a good air barrier the material must be installed in a continuous air barrier system.
So continuity is extremely critical for air barriers.
Benjamin Meyer >> To prevent air infiltration the best way to do that is to have a complete
air and water barrier on the outside of the building. It's a complete system that's taped,
it's flashed, and its assembled so that there's no gaps and there’s no joints that are open
to the building. Well if you don't tape it properly, just a small gap can let a lot of
air through and its kind of like how you crack your window when you are driving on the highway.
A little gap doesn't let through just a little bit of air. It lets a lot of air through at
high speeds. So if you have a little gap, you can get a lot of air through that space.

heat, moisture and contaminants through the building enclosure and this could affect the
performance of the building and the comfort of the building occupants. So it's obvious
