Halwa can be prepared in many flavors like sooji halwa, chana dal halwa, pumpkin halwa, bottle gourd halwa, carrot halwa and moong dal halwa.
Today we will make moong dal halwa.
Let’s see what all ingredients are required for making moong dal halwa.
Moong dal - ½ cup Washed, soaked for 2 hours and then grind it.
Almonds 7-8
Cashew - 1tsp
Sugar - ¾ cup
Ghee - ½ cup
Raisins- 1 tsp
Green cardamom - 4-5
Mawa - ½ cup
First of all we will roast dal in ghee
Then roast mawa in dal
and then we will prepare sugar syrup.
Then we will add dal, mawa and dry fruit in sugar syrup.
Now we will roast the dal.
Firstly we will add ghee in a pan.
When ghee, melts add dal in it.
Dal should be grinded thickly
Roast the dal with the help of a spoon.
Now add the left over ghee in the pan.
Roast the dal till it change it color and ghee starts separating.
It takes about 20-25 minutes to roast the dal.
Keep the flame low, while roasting the dal
Roasted dal is now ready.
Now we will roast mawa
Add mawa in pan.
Roast the mawa till it colour changes to light brown.
Now add mawa in dal.
Meanwhile prepare sugar syrup.
For sugar syrup add sugar in pan and add .45 cup of water. Quantity of sugar and water should be the same.
Stir it till the sugar gets dissolves in water.
Meanwhile cut dry fruits.
Cut one cashew nut into 5-6 pieces.
Cut almonds thinly as they will be used for garnishing.
Cook the sugar syrup for 1-2 minutes more.
Sugar syrup is ready
now add in the roasted dal.
Cook till moong dal halwa gets thick.
Now add raisins and cashew nuts in the mixture.
Keep few cashews for garnishing.
The granules of dal will get softer while cooking.
Moong dal halwa is ready, now we will add cardamom into it.
Turn off the gas now.
Garnish with chopped almonds and cashew nuts.
Sweet moong dal halwa is ready.
Frigid moong dal halwa can be consumed for 7 days.
